Analysts predict that SoLoMo (Social.Local.Mobile) is going to be the next social media wave that is going to hit the world. At ICT Internet Presence (ICTIP), we believe in staying in line with the technology, which is why a few weeks ago, we decided to convert the Norwest Business Directory into a fully-fledged SoLoMo business portal. Supported by the Sydney Hills council and in partnership with Custom Tec, the portal was developed by ICT Internet Presence.
The key objectives of the business portal are: -
Fig 1:- Norwest Business Portal – Customer Engagement Model
Once the customer engagement model was finalised, we took a three pronged approach to developing the portal. To that end, we developed the social media integrated website, the mobile application and the tablet version.
Our development team managed to implement this portal without compromising on the overall vision on the portal to be SoLoMo. The portal loads with an interactive map of the Norwest Business Park and is fully integrated with social media links and buttons. Business listings are easy to find, with a prominently featured search button. At this point, you are probably wondering, why Norwest Business Portal qualifies as a SoLoMo B2B platform. SoLoMo is about the convergence of Social, Local and Mobile and the Norwest Business Portal’s very existence is local. The mobile version of Norwest Business Portal is still at the initial phase, but in the near future is will be expanded to encompass fully the reach of having a location based mobile business portal application.
This leaves us with the social aspect of the business portal. The portal by design is social. It loads with an interactive map of the Business Park, which allows users to find the businesses and buildings they are looking for easily. Additionally the social media share buttons are prominently featured on every page together with the call to action information, as highlighted in the figure above. The portal also has its own Facebook, Twitter and Google+ page, together with Flickr, YouTube and Pinterest. We also manage the social media presence of the portal on a daily basis with posts and tweets to increase customer engagement not just to the portal but with the listed companies within the portal as well.
If you are a business housed within the Norwest Business Park or surrounding areas, you are probably wondering, what the benefits are, if you register. Here is a list of advantages: -
With more and more companies joining the Norwest Business Portal, the B2B portal has become a daily necessity for companies housed in the Sydney Hills Area. The first phase of the portal has been successfully completed with more exciting and innovative developments to be released in the upcoming months.
Speaking at the launch event, held on 11th July 2012, Mayor of the Hills Shire, Greg Burnett said “the portal provided an excellent networking and sales opportunity for local businesses. The new portal can essentially serve two purposes: local, national and global customers can more easily find out about businesses operating out of Norwest, while local businesses can make contact with other local businesses. If businesses are able to connect with others and keep their business local, this benefits the entire community.”
This is your chance to list your business in the Norwest Business Portal, registration is free!
